Submission guidelines

Laughter for Women is an online magazine which aims to highlight the funnier side of life on everyday issues like children, relationships, health, diet, wellbeing, and of course, women.

Our target market:-

Laughter for Women is an online magazine packed full of funny stories and anecdotes from the everyday lives of women.  We promote women’s health and also aim to be the first port of call for women when thinking of activities and places to go.  With a substantial online directory we welcome ideas and reviews on activities, short breaks and holidays that appeal to women.

On the face of it our target market is women aged 30 - 50.  However, as age is all in the mind a broad definition of this group may assist:-  anyone born 30 to 50 years ago, anyone born approximately 17 years ago but acts like 30 and of course those women over 50 who still wish they were 17.  And then of course, there are those born over 60 years ago who still think sledging down the Alps at 75 is a cool!

So, to summarise, if you have a story to tell and it will appeal to women of any age group then we want to know.

Here’s what we’re looking for:-

We are primarily interested in articles and photographic pieces that are humorous and make us laugh. We are looking for original non- fiction pieces although will consider short fiction pieces.  Please make it clear in your submission whether it is fiction or non fiction as for some of us it’s hard to tell the difference.

We accept submissions on the following subjects:-
 

• Health including diet, food and fitness 
• Hair and Beauty
• Travel including activities and interest  

Reviews should be 50 - 250 words, and be written in the first person. Think more "recommendation" and "experience" when you write these than "review." We want to hear about how much fun you had or not as the case maybe.

• Family and Relationships
• Women
• Photographic submissions should be in either *.gif or *.jpg format, whichever is more appropriate for your work.

Whilst we have no limit on word count we prefer articles to be less than 1000 words. 

Simultaneous submissions

Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as we realise for many of us accidents happen in three’s. 

Laughter for Women seeks original submissions for material published exclusively on our website and must not have been published previously in any format.

Submitting your work

Please note that by emailing your submission to us you:-

• confirm that you own the rights, title and interest in that work and it does not violate the copyright of any third party
• grant Laughter for Women a perpetual royalty free non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce and modify any information or material you supply or communicate to the site, for any purpose, including commercial uses on this site
• acknowledge Laughter for Women will not return it if submitted, and accepts no liability whatsoever for safe custody thereof

We accept articles by email only.  Please submit articles as follows:-

1) Click on our Submission Guideline/ Terms and Conditions

2) Tick the box agreeing to the Terms and Conditions – a new page will open giving you access to our email address

3) Make sure your article is no more than 1000 words

4) Attach your Word document or paste written articles into the body of the email

5) Photographs and art work should be sent as either a .jpg or.gif attachment

6) Write "Submission," the genre and your name in the subject line. E.g., "Submission: Hair and Beauty by…………."

7) Include your name, email address, and a brief biography

8) Press "send" .

Payment

We do not pay for accepted works at this time. However, if you write for us then we're more than happy to support you with a short biography and possible link back to you.  And for those of you who are not quite so proud of your silly moments then we respect your wish to remain anonymous.

If we wish to reproduce your work in any other format than this site we will contact you.
