An early lesson for new mums.

Print PDF

 What’s mine is yours.

It’s a foregone conclusion that if you have a daughter, at sometime in your life she’ll be wearing your clothes – with or without permission.

Remember that skirt you bought and she just wouldn’t be seen dead in it but the belt has suddenly gone missing. And it doesn’t end there.  There’s the mascara that disappears from your makeup bag only to turn up weeks later all dried or the eye liner which, by the time you next see it, has lost 4 inches off it length and resembles nothing more than a broken crayon.

So when your daughter spreads her wings and moves out you can be sure that what’s yours is yours…...or can you?

Daughter calls round to see Mum at home.

Daughter:  'Mm, that’s a nice cardigan Mum, where did you get it from?'

Mum:  'Ah, I got it from Next.'

Daughter:  'Mm, I might get myself one'.

Next time Daughter is over.

Daughter:  'Ooo Mum, I’m little bit cold, can I borrow one of your cardigans?'

Mum:  'Yes, just go and get one.'

Daughter puts on the new cardigan from Next.

Daughter leaves wearing the new cardigan.

Next time Daughter is over.

Mum:  'Did you bring my cardigan with you, love?'

Daughter:  'Oh no, sorry Mum, I’ll bring it with me next time?'

Next time Mum and Daughter meet at a party.

Mum:  'Sophie, is that my cardigan?'

Daughter:  'Is it?'
